Really?

Okay, so it’s been less than a month of my blogging days, or what is called blogosphere and I have earned 100+ followers and I cannot express how happy I am. I least expected this to happen; at least not so soon.

A big and heartiest thank you to all my followers, readers and people who comment and like my posts. I can’t thank you all enough. It takes time and patience for everyone to read these posts and I thank you for doing that.

Q/A

Well, for a change I’d like to know you all and make myself known. So if you are reading this then tell me below one fact about yourself and ask me one question if you want to.

  1. Congratulations Moushumi!

I too love reading, especially in autumn with a fire in the grate and coffee on the side table.

Question: I’m a literary type, who also loves mystery novels, so what novel or author would you recommend for me to read that offers good insight into modern India?

    1. Hi Paul,
      You are truly welcome.
And for your preferences I’d suggest reading Anita Desai, Jumpa Lahiri, Amitav Ghosh; but I’d also like you to do prior search on them as to suit your preferences and not waste time.
Not on modern India but some of my personal favorites are ‘God of small things’ by Arundhati Roy, ‘The Guide’ by R.K.Narayan and also a couple of books by Vikram Seth.
Mystery perfect: “Gulab” by Anne Zaidi.
I hope something from this suits your choice and helps.
      happy reading.

      1. Wow! thank you so much. I’ll definitely let you know how it all turns out! πŸ™‚

It really is a sad truth, but we here in urban America receive very little exposure to Indian writers, and none via our educational system which favors Western writers and thinkers.

But the good news is that the powers that be cannot hush up the digital world of blogging and Amazon! Yeaaaa. So I’m gonna do a search tonight and pick out a few of the books you mentioned. Again thank you Moushmi, and I look forward to your posts!
